MSU Researchers Discover a New Species of Amorphophallus (Araceae) in Northeastern Thailand

MSU researchers, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wilawan Promprom and Assoc. Prof. Wannachai Chatan, at the Faculty of Science and their team have discovered a new species from the plant family Amorphophallus (Araceae) in northeastern Thailand. The new species, named “𝐴𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑝ℎ𝑜𝑝ℎ𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑢𝑠 𝑠𝑎𝑘𝑜𝑛𝑛𝑎𝑘ℎ𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑠 Chatan & Promprom”, is found in tropical humid forests, has height of only 10 cm and contain green mature seeds. This investigation has been published in PhytoKeys journal in 2023.
