MSU Participates in the Colombo Conference in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka

Faculty members of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahasarakham University, led by Prof. Anongrit Kangrang, along with Assoc. Prof. Krit Chaimoon, Asst. Prof. Siwa Kaewplang, and Asst. Prof.. Nida Chaimoon, participated in the Colombo Conference under the project “Strengthening University-Enterprise Collaboration for Resilient Communities in Asia” (SECRA) (supported by Erasmus) during March 16-21, 2024, at GAP HQ, Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Earls Regency Hotel, Kandy, Sri Lanka, hosted by the University of Peradeniya, University of Ruhuna, and University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

The Erasmus+ project “SECRA” or “Strengthening University-Enterprise Collaboration for Resilient Communities in Asia,” funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, aims to address the collaboration challenges between university enterprises in disaster response through collaboration with Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the Philippines. The first international academic university-industry collaborations for sustainable development, “The Colombo Conference” (ICSD 2024), featuring presenters from the UK, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and various other countries, along with student pitching activities.

Activities within the SECRA project included a policy dialogue discussion on issues relating to university-enterprise collaboration (UEC) and disaster resilience (DR), conducted by members from Sri Lanka. Additionally, there was a joint workshop with project member countries including Estonia, the Philippines, Sweden, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, and Thailand.
