MSU Organizes 10th International Conference on Educational Reform 2024

The Faculty of Education, Mahasarakham University, organized the 10th International Conference on Educational Reform (ICER 2024) under the theme “Quality Assurance Standards for Teacher Education”. Assoc. Prof. Prayook Srivilai, Acting President of Mahasarakham University, presided over the opening ceremony, and Assoc. Prof. Chowwalit Chookhampaeng, Dean of the Faculty of Education, reported the objectives. The event brought together lecturers, researchers, and graduate students from universities, higher education institutions, and various organizations to participate both onsite and via the ZOOM Meeting platform from May 10-11, 2024, at Taksila Hotel, Maha Sarakham Province. The aim was to foster academic collaboration through national and international networks and promote educational innovations, academic work in education, research, and learning development.

Participants attended various lectures, including:

  • “Quality Assurance Standards for Teacher Education” by Prof. Ahmad Bukhori Muslim, Director of International Affairs, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia
  • “Teachers Professional Development in Asia Pacific” by Prof. Hsiu-Lan Shelly Tien, Dean of College of Education, National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan
  • “Trend of Professional Learning” by Assoc. Prof. Keng Cheng Ang, Dean of Graduate Studies and Professional Learning, National Institute of Education and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
  • “Teacher Professional Development in Malaysia” by Assoc. Prof. Mohamad Khairi Bin Haji Othman, Dean of School of Education, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Malaysia
  • “Education in the Philippines” by Dr. Ivee Kalalo Guce, Dean of the College of Education, Art and Sciences, and Director of the Strategic Planning Office at De La Salle Lipa, Philippines

Additionally, there were breakout sessions covering topics such as teaching and learning, educational administration, educational psychology, innovation and technology, local wisdom curriculum, and interdisciplinary education.

Moreover, a workshop on the craft of making traditional silverware was held as a part of the international academic conference. This workshop was honored by instructors Wuttichai Sangsrichan and Kowit Promsene, who provided lectures and practical training. Assoc. Prof. Montree Wongsapan, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education, led teachers, students, and representatives from the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, along with other interested participants in the workshop held at the Witthaya Pattana Building, Faculty of Education, Mahasarakham University.
