MSU Organizes Seminar to Drive Community-Based Tourism in Maha Sarakham Province along the BCG Tourism Route

On May 18, 2024, the Research Institute of Northeastern Art and Culture at Mahasarakham University organized a seminar on driving tourism management in Maha Sarakham province.

This was part of the project to elevate community-based health tourism along the BCG Tourism route, following the Maha Sarakham Happy Model approach, and developing it to meet community-based tourism standards. Mr. Wiboon Waewbundit, the Governor of Maha Sarakham Province, presided over the opening ceremony and gave a special lecture on “Directions and Approaches to Driving Tourism in Maha Sarakham Province” in the meeting room on the 1st floor of the Research Institute of Northeastern Art and Culture at Mahasarakham University.

Asst. Prof. Chupak Suthisa, the head of the research project, stated that the seminar aims to report on the progress of tourism management along the BCG Tourism route following the Maha Sarakham Happy Model approach. The event also included discussions on formats and mechanisms for enhancing health tourism, sharing lessons on community-based tourism management, and exploring ways to develop community tourism. Additionally, the seminar sought to gather suggestions on the direction and approaches for advancing tourism in Maha Sarakham province.

This initiative involves various tourism-related partner organizations, including the Maha Sarakham Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports, the Tourism Industry Council of Maha Sarakham, YEC (the organization under the Maha Sarakham Chamber of Commerce), the Lao Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Kosum Phisai District, and participants from the four tourism routes: Na Dun district, Kae Dam district, Kosum Phisai district, and Kantharawichai district. A total of 80 people participated in the event.
