Fine Arts Student Creates Shadow Art Piece that Appears as a Buddha Image
Innovative fine arts student Thanin Chaibun previously created artwork from seemingly worthless waste in February, 2024, to project shadow images onto the walls. This included the “Street Child” which was widely shared and admired on social media.
Mr. Thanin, now a fourth-year student, has since created his latest piece for art enthusiasts to admire and share, with a mixed media art technique where the shadows and colors on the wall are created from materials placed in front of a light bulb, forming a Buddha image. He used techniques to adjust the angle and degree of the light bulb positioned appropriately with the light facing up. A stable base structure was constructed by attaching pieces of scrap wood, cardboard, and other leftover materials to support the weight. The materials used for creating the shadows were cut as desired and layered until a shadow that appears as the Buddha image was projected onto the wall. This work is a project submitted to the instructor for the first semester of the academic year 2024.
