MSU Hosts Global Citizenship Camp 2023
From September 19-25, 2023, the Office of International Affairs (OIA), Mahasarakham University, held the Global Citizenship Camp (GCC) 2023. Led by Dr. Sarinthree Udchachone, Assistant to the President for International Affairs and Global Image and head of the OIA, 21 students from 11 partner universities in Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam attended GCC.
Upon their arrival, international campers were introduced to MSU staff and student ambassadors at a welcome party with Thai food, music and a Thai folk dancing show by MSU students from the Faculty of Fine-Applied Arts and Cultural Science. On September 20, campers toured both the Khamriang and Downtown campuses where they were introduced to MSU’s Medicinal Mushroom Museum, Academic Resource Center, Digital Learning Park, Paleontological Research and Education center, and many other MSU facilities, followed by a Mahasarakham city tour. On September 21-23, campers attended various workshops where they learned about paleontological research, print making and sustainable agriculture, as well as taking part in cultural exchange activities, such as Thai dancing, Thai cooking and Thai boxing.
On the final day of GCC, September 24, campers departed from MSU to Ubol Ratana Dam, a hydroelectric dam in Khon Kaen province, where they went rafting and swimming in the lake. Campers were then taken to the Garden Resort Hotel Seven Brothers, Khon Kaen, where they prepared their national costumes for the farewell party. Each camper prepared a costume, speech and show representative of their home nation, giving MSU staff and students a sneak peak of their own native culture.
