Faculty of Science Partners with Leading Japanese Institutions to Advance Plasma Fusion Research

On October 24, 2024, at the National Institute for Fusion Science (NIFS) in Japan, Mahasarakham University signed an academic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Institute for Fusion Science (NIFS) and the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI). Assoc.Prof. Prayook Srivilai, Acting President of Mahasarakham University, signed the MOU alongside Prof. Yoshida Zensho, Director of NIFS, and Prof. Nagata Takashi, President of SOKENDAI. This collaboration aims to advance research and education in plasma fusion for personnel and students from MSU, enhancing research quality and creating international recognition.

NIFS and SOKENDAI are world-renowned institutions in plasma fusion research and education. Since 2019, Assoc.Prof. Siriyaporn Sangaroon from MSU has collaborated with Prof. Isobe Mitsutaka and Assoc.Prof. Kunihiro Ogawa, producing over 46 international publications. Additionally, the research has been funded by the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC) since 2021. NIFS and SOKENDAI also annually support short-term research opportunities for MSU students from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, which began in 2023.
