MSU Students Organize an Architecture Camp: Collaborating with the Community for Sustainable Development

The Student Club of the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design and Creative Arts, MSU, organized the 21st Architectural Camp for the 2024 academic year at Nam Phong National Park, Khon Kaen Province. The event brought together 60 students, faculty members, and staff participating in volunteer activities aimed at benefiting both society and the local community.

The primary objective of the project was to provide students with hands-on experience working with the community while learning about sustainable development through practical engagement. This year’s focus was on improving the landscape of Hin Chang Si Trail (Elephant-Rubbing Rock), a significant ecological learning site within the national park. Students and faculty collaborated to restore the trail’s landscape, ensuring that it became beautiful and safe for visitors once again. Additionally, they repaired informational signs and guideposts, cleaned and improved rest areas, restored wooden bridges and walking paths, to facilitate more convenience for visitors.

Beyond environmental restoration, participants had the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with local residents, learning about their way of life and traditional wisdom and helping preserve and promote it. This aspect of the camp not only helped students gain new experiences, but also helped in developing skills in working with the community and opened up more diverse perspectives on work.

This Architectural Camp also aimed to instill a sense of social responsibility in students and participants, encouraging them to contribute to society in a sustainable manner. The collaboration within this project helped strengthen relationships between students, faculty members, staff, and the local community, laying a crucial foundation for a more compassionate and understanding society.
