Svarna Pravah from Team X-Thailand, MSU: Thai Innovation Steps Toward the World Stage with the Future of Clean Energy Transportation in 2030

Amid the trend of developing innovations for the future, Team X-Thailand from the Faculty of Engineering, MSU, has taken the global stage at the Creation New Mobility 2030 competition in Tokyo, Japan. With a creative concept that integrates clean energy with the transportation of the future, they have not only brought recognition to MSU but also showcased the potential of Thai researchers on the international stage.

Introducing Team X-Thailand and the People Behind It

The leader of Team X-Thailand is Thanarak Phosing, a Ph.D. student in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The team members include Janyawan Sasoongnon (Mechanical Engineering), Sirikanda Sutthijak (Practical Engineering), Chaiwat Srichan (Electrical Engineering), Nooparat Suntra (Practical Engineering), and Supawit Siriwat (Practical Engineering), all of whom are students from the Faculty of Engineering, MSU.

The team has received guidance and advice from Asst. Prof. Sarinya Sala-Ngam and Assoc. Prof. Chonlatee Photong, both from the Faculty of Engineering, as well as from Parinya Lertprasert, President of L.B. Solution Technology Co., Ltd.

Win a Global Award with Clean Energy Innovation

Team X-Thailand received a Special Award from the Ministry of Tourism of Japan as one of six teams to win an award out of a total of 39 teams. This competition was organized by the Association for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles (APEV) under the theme Creation New Mobility 2030, focusing on future transportation with clean energy innovation. The event was held at the University of Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan.

Preparation, challenges, and obstacles encountered along the way

The competition spanned six months, starting in June and concluding in November, consisting of two main activities: workshops and the competition day. Throughout this period of intense work, numerous challenges and obstacles were faced, including project and content design, as well as revising and adjusting information to align with the specific requirements. This was especially demanding as they were not working as a single team but also collaborating with two teams from India, both of which played a key role in designing an electric boat and an electric bicycle.

The Concept Behind the Innovation in Developing Svarna Pravah

The Creation New Mobility 2030 competition focused on the theme of future transportation with clean energy innovation. The team envisioned mobility in the year 2030 powered by clean energy. They decided to simulate a specific location to serve as a city of mobility, choosing a site in Thailand, which is already renowned for its tourism in the eyes of foreigners. However, there are still places with cultural significance, geographical importance, and beauty that may not be fully recognized by either foreigners or Thais. One such location is the Mekong River, a cultural heritage site deeply connected to Thai life for generations. The Mekong River also holds geographical significance, spanning six countries, and presents potential opportunities for various modes of mobility in the future of 2030.

Therefore, this area was selected as the location for the city named “X-Thailand”. This city would feature trips focused on Eco River Trips, eco-friendliness, and ecosystems, designed to align with the year 2030. Various technologies would be integrated to enhance the site’s potential in transportation, travel, mobility, and economic systems. This vision led to the creation of the project named “Svarna Pravah”.

In Sanskrit, Svarna Pravah translates to “Flow of Gold,” with “Svarna” meaning “gold” and “Pravah” meaning “flow” or “stream”. It symbolizes the flow of something precious, such as a shimmering river of gold, prosperity, knowledge, or blessings that flow continuously. Simply put, Svarna Pravah represents a place rich in eco-mobility, economy, and culture.

Teamwork for Success

Since the Svarna Pravah project is a large-scale initiative, the work was divided into three main roles: 1) a data preparation team, 2) a team for coordinating with APEV and the teams from India, and 3) a team for creating slides and reports. One of the main challenges was a lack of experience, as most team members had limited exposure to working and competing internationally. For many, this was their first time engaging in a project of this nature.

How the Faculty and University Provided Support

The Faculty of Engineering and Mahasarakham University played a significant role in helping bring this valuable award back to MSU. Team X-Thailand received support in various forms, including knowledge, advisory personnel, financial assistance, and many other resources.

Feelings After Receiving the Award

After the results were announced, team members were filled with pride and immense joy that the hard work of every team member had brought recognition to the faculty and university.

Experience Gained from the Creation New Mobility 2030 Competition

Team X-Thailand stated that Creation New Mobility 2030 “was an experience that I believe none of us in the team will ever forget. Whether it was the work experience, collaborating with international teams, using languages, communication, or teamwork, these experiences are truly invaluable.”

The Future of Svarna Pravah and Its Expansion

Svarna Pravah has great potential for further expansion, especially by extending what they are currently doing in Thailand to the six countries in the Mekong River basin. This would create opportunities for cooperation in areas such as international relations, economy, transportation, innovation, technology, travel, culture, and many more.

What Message Does Team X-Thailand have for Students or Youth Interested in Innovation and Clean Energy to Inspire Them?

Finally, I would like to encourage all students or young people interested in this field not to stop seeking knowledge, opportunities, and new experiences. These will benefit you greatly, no matter what form the experience takes. It will always have a positive impact on you. Thank you.

Team X-Thailand from the Faculty of Engineering, Mahasarakham University, has proven that innovation and determination can bring recognition to the university and the country on the global stage with pride!
