MSU Hosts Academic Seminar on the Preservation of Arts, Culture, and Local Wisdom

On September 9th, 2024, the Division of Research Facilitation and Dissemination, Mahasarakham University (MSU), held an academic seminar on the preservation of arts, culture, local wisdom, and academic services to society for the 2024 fiscal year. Assoc.Prof. Prayook Srivilai, Acting President of Mahasarakham University, presided over the opening ceremony, while Prof. Anongrit Kangrang, Vice President for Infrastructure Development, Research, and Innovation, led faculty members, researchers, staff, students, and interested persons to participate in the event held at the Research Institute of Northeastern Art and Culture, MSU.

The objective of this seminar was to provide a platform for presenting and disseminating works of art, culture, innovation, and academic services to the general public and society from both within and outside the university. It aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, opinions, and experiences among academics, leading to the development of academic collaborations between organizations and individuals. Additionally, it served as a stage for showcasing internationally recognized works that are prominent pillars of the Isan region.

The event featured an exhibition on various aspects of art and culture, including music, art, food, textiles, and palm leaf manuscripts, and poster presentations from 12 cultural preservation projects and 8 academic service projects. There was also a panel discussion on ” Carbon Neutral Tourism,” with participants including Sukanakamon Suksat, Director of the Mahasarakham Office of Tourism and Sports; Ms. Vasumon Netkijcharoen, President of the Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA); Asst.Prof. Choopug Suttisa, an expert from the Research Institute of Northeastern Art and Culture; and moderated by Thom Gatewongsa, Director of the Research Institute of Northeastern Art and Culture.
