MSU Offers Japan’s Prince Akishino Honorary Degree
 
On December 13, 2018, His Imperial Highness Prince Akishino of Japan was offered an honorary degree of doctor of philosophy in Biology by Mahasarakham University. The ceremony took place at MSU Convention Hall, Mahasarakham University downtown campus.
 
His Imperial Highness Prince Akishino of Japan graduated master degree in Zoology from University of Oxford and received a PhD degree in Ornithology from the Graduate University for Advanced Studies in Japan. He has outstanding academic achievements in education and taxonomy research of fish. He conducted field research in SEA countries including Thailand. He managed to maintain and expand the aquaculture studies with the people of Thailand. In addition, he is also interested in the study of native chicken breeds, wild fowl, chickens and pheasants. Therefore, Mahasarakham University Council unanimously approved honorary degree of doctor of philosophy in Biology to His Imperial Highness Prince Akishino.
 
After the ceremony, His Imperial Highness Prince Akishino of Japan visited an exhibition in honor of his research organized by Mahasarakham University. He also visited MSU Silk Innovation Center in Kham-Riang campus, planted mulberry trees and watched the process of silk weaving, and he went to Faculty of Science, Mahasarakham University, to visit MSU Natural Medicinal Mushroom Museum.
