MSU Invites You to Use less Plastic through ‘ECOLIFE’ Application

On September 11, 2018, Mahasarakham University welcomed Mr. Pipat “Top” Apiruktanakorn and Ms. Siraphun “Noon” Wattanajinda, famous Thai actors who visited the university to publicize the ECOLIFE 2018 Project which is a single-use plastic reduction project through mobile application. They went to MSU market to invite students, staff, and merchants to reduce single-use plastic by scanning QR code via ECOLIFE application when they do not accept plastic products (e.g. plastic bag, plastic straw, plastic glass, and plastic spoon). They will get points after scanning the code to buy special in-app prize. The project got a good feedback from people around MSU to becoming a zero waste campus.

The ECOLIFE 2018 is a game-like application on mobile phone. Users will get points by scanning QR code, when they buy stuff at campus stores (only participating stores) and refuse to accept a single-use plastic, to purchase more in-app avatars and areas. The application will store the quantity of refusing number. The goal is to reach the amount of 1 million by the end of this year.
