MSU Ballet Students Win Top Positions at the CSTD 19th Asia Pacific Dance Competition 2017
 
MSU Students won the first and second positions in different categories at the CSTD 19th Asia Pacific Dance Competition 2017 which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 17 to 20.
 
The Asia Pacific Dance Competition is annually organized by the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (C.S.T.D), one of the world’s greatest International Dance Societies catering for Dance providing and Competitions, Festivals, Championships. It has been attended by several thousand dance students and teachers from across the Asia Pacific region for the past nineteen years. 
 
This year, Mahasarakham University represented Thailand together with other 5 institutions from Thailand and competed with over 1,500 dancers from 9 countries, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, India, the Philippines, China, Indonesia and Thailand.
 
At the CSTD 19th Asia Pacific Dance Competition, the Chanakarn Panpijit, MSU 4th year majoring in Western Dance, won the 1st position for the Repertoire Solo Open. He also won the 2nd position together with Natchapon Sornrasawan, MSU 4th year majoring in Western Dance, for the Lyrical Duo Open. 
 
“Their successes in this competition have proved that MSU ballet students from the heart of the northeast of Thailand can complete at international level and that our Western Dance program at the Department of Performing Arts is one of the best in the country and the Asia-Pacific region. I am very honored to work with these dedicated students. They are the pride of our university and our country,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirimongkol Natayakul who is a team leader and a lecturer at MSU Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts.
