MSU Successfully Conducts a Vermicompost Outreach Project
On August 3, 2017, over 200 undergraduate students and lecturers of Mahasarakham University successfully conducted and led a community outreach project on vermicomposting derived from earthworm-processed organic wastes for Thakornyang farmers and villagers in Kantarawichai District, Maha Sarakham Province.
The project began as part of the University’ s One Program, One Community Project and received grant from MSU. This project is led by Ms. Areerat Raksasil, a lecturer at the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies and a team formed by Environmental and Resource Management students.
“This project benefits both the university and the community in several ways. Through this
project, our students can gain hand-on experience, leadership skill and knowledge about vermicomposting through volunteering, also the community can learn about vermicomposting and how to manage solid waste in a sustained state.”, said Ms. Areerat Raksasil.
