MSU ranks the 7th among Thai Universities in Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021 
 
Mahasarakham University ranked the 7th among Thai Universities and the 501+ of world’s position in Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021, published on March 9, 2021.
 
For the ranked university in the Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021, it must be an undergraduate teaching university with at least 1,000 research articles in the Scopus between 2015 - 2019 (at least 150 articles / year), if Any university that does not meet this requirement but has research articles in 11 areas, more than 80% are also exempt from this ranking.
 
This year, it ranked 606 institutions (53 institutions increase) from 48 countries around the world (1 country increase). These emerging economies are divided by London Stock Exchange's FTSE Group into 3 groups as follows:
 
Advanced emerging includes Brazil, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malaysia, Mexico, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, and Turkey.
 
Secondary emerging includes Chile, China, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Romania, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates.
 
Frontier includes Bahrain, Bangladesh, Botswana, Bulgaria, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Ghana, Iceland, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Palestine, Peru, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Vietnam.
The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Teaching (the learning environment); Research (volume, income and reputation); Citations (research influence); International outlook (staff, students and research); and Industry income (knowledge transfer).
