MSU Researchers finds the newest land snail of the world
 
Assist. Prof. Dr. Chanidaporn Tumpeesuwan, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sakboworn Tumpeesuwan; researcher from Faculty of Science, Mahasarakham University found the newest land snail of the world, scientific name: Landouria strobiloides Tumpeesuwan & Tumpeesuwan 2019 at Limestone Mountain, Pha Ngam Rock Garden, Nong Hin District, Loei Province.
 
It’s dark brown shell, its shell shaped small round and flat, the top shell is convex like dome with radial line, the bottom shell is sharp, the navel shell is wide and deep. Its sized 13.4-16.7 mm wide and 7.1-9.6 mm tall.
 
This research was confirmed about the first discovery of land snail, genus: Landouria in Thailand. According to the research of reproductive anatomy and radula, it was to support the morphology of shell to classify as the newest species of land snail. This study shown that at Northeast of Thailand has a biological diversity still waiting for further discovery especially the complex mountains area of Loei Province.
