MSU Hosts the Thai Traditional Activity for Rice Harvesting

Mahasarakham University by the Division of Building and Grounds hosts the Thai traditional activity for rice harvesting on December 13, 2019 at the Center of Sufficiency Economy Study for the Sustainable Development (Khamriang Campus).

For this activity, Asst. Prof. Kanokporn Rattanasuteerakul, the Vice President for Personnel Resources Development, presides over the opening ceremony and delivers her speech to all participants including Mahasarakham University staff and students. And during the harvesting activity, the MSU students perform the fancy dance show that can entertain and reduce tiredness of the rice fields harvesting.

The Thai tradition way of rice harvesting is that the group of farmers in the same village and nearby all together harvest the rice fields owned by the members without payment. Then, they continue to do the same in another fields until they finish harvesting in all members’ rice fields. This is originally to show love, relationship and support in Thai people and also to strengthen the connection between Mahasarkham University and the community.
