MSU organized the 2nd Food Innovation and Technology Camp --- Theme: Cooking Eligible Insects towards Global Market

Clinic Technology Project, Division of Research Facilitation and Dissemination Mahasarakham University in collaboration with Ministry of Science and Technology of Thailand organized the 2nd Food Innovation and Technology Camp: Cooking Eligible Insects towards Global Market.

On 5 March 2017, District Chief of Mueang District, Mr. Siriphan Koomduang, presided over the opening ceremony of the 2nd Food Innovation and Technology Camp at Sermthai Complex Maha Sarakham. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prayook Srivilai, Vice-President for Planning and Special Affairs and Mr. Ekapong Musikacharoen, Director of of Science and Technology Coordination Centre, Upper Northeast Region, and other honorable guests from Roi Et, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham and Kalasin provinces also attended the ceremony.

The Food Innovation and Technology Camp was held for the second time from 4 – 5 January 2017 (1st Session) and on 5 March 2017 (2nd Session). During the 1st Session, there were up to 90 participants consisting of college students and their advisors from Mahasarakham University, Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University, Khon Kaen University, Rajamangala University of Technology of Technology, Roi Et Rajabhat University and Kalasin Rajabhat University attending the camp. During this camp session, the participants had an opportunity to learn about food innovation and technology, food safety, food from edible insects processing and preservation, intellectual property, packaging design and development, and developing a business plan and model. Besides the participants got a chance to hear from the entrepreneurs who sell the edible insects and visit MSU Science Park and its laboratories.

The 2nd Session was the completion among the participants; seventeen teams joined the Edible Insect FoodTech Startups Competition in which they presented their projects on 5 March 2017.

Competition Results:
First Place:  Team JaAe-CleanBug – Mahasarakham University
Second Place:  Team Food Tech RMU – Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University
Third Place:  MorTorRor Khon Kaen 03 – Rajamangala University of Technology of Technology, Khon Kaen Campus
