Asst. Prof. Dr. Chanidaporn Tumpeesuwan, Dr. Sakboworn Tumpeesuwan, lecturers at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Mahasarakham University, and Kitti Tanmuangpak from Loei Rajabhat University recently discovered a new species of snails in Loei province of Thailand. It has been named Sesara triodon Tanmuangpak & Tumpeesuwan, 2017.

This newly discovered snail has a small, flat, hard, smooth and transparent shell (about 6-12 mm) with a columellar lip sticking out looking like three teeth.

“This new species of land snails found in the Northeastern Thailand indicates the richness of biodiversity in the area and will be used as samples for study in the Zoogeography course”, Asst. Prof. Dr. Chanidaporn Tumpeesuwan said.
