Skyline Cable TV Interview on MSU Waste Management
MSU Acting President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supachai Samappito and Vice President for General Management Mrs. Areerat Raksasilp got an interview for Skyline Cable TV, one of the prominent TV Station in Maha Sarakham Province regarding the Waste Management at Mahasarakham University on March 10, 2015 at the Waste Management Building of the university.
Being the most acclaimed Green University in the Northeast of Thailand and consistently leaping high its rank in Thailand for the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, Mahasarakham University has its great and unique Waste Management.
Great in managing the average of 5 tons of waste per day from the 45,000 yearly enrollment. And for this, MSU put the importance of SEGREGATION on its Waste Management Operations. The everyday garbage collection is being brought and segregated in the Waste Management Building into BIODEGRADABLE and NON-BIODEGRADABLE using the separator and shredder machine. Then the BIODEGRADABLE waste such as fruit peels and vegetable leftovers will undergo processing into a COMPOST FERTILIZER and will pack into tablets. And this will be used to improve the soil and glamorize the landscaping around the university.
On the uniqueness and Community Based MSU Waste Management, MSU has its Recycle Bank that manages the reduction of the NON-BIODEGRADABLE waste around the university. The NON-BIODEGRADABLE waste such as plastics are being RECYCLED. Some plastics are being shredded and converted into a usable and able to be sold materials. And from this, MSU extended its helping hand to earn money out of waste materials not only to its students as well as to its community.
