MSU Holds World Wetland Day 2015 for Maha Sarakham Province
Mahasarakham University held the World Wetland Day 2015 on February 5, 2015 at Ban Koeng Operation Station Sub – District, Maha Sarakham for the awareness of the importance of water resources.
The big event was presided over by the MSU Acting President Assoc. Prof. Supachai Samappito and graced by the presence of Mr. Chayawut Chanthon, Governor of Maha Sarakham Province, Mr. Mongkol Anpanya, Chief Executive of Koeng Sub-District Administrative Organization and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rojchai Sattrawaha, Director of MSU Walai Rukhavej Botanical Research Institute.
MSU celebrated the event following its theme for this year, “Wetlands for Our Future”. All the activities involved the promotion of the conservation of wetlands and its multitude benefits including filtering and replenishing our water, providing food, acting as a natural shield to protect our coastlines and mitigating climate change.
February 2 each year is World Wetlands Day, marking the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971 in the Iranian city of Ramsar. This is an international date with a different theme and message on a relevant subject set each year by the Ramsar Secretariat.
