The International Relations Office of Mahasarakham University co-organized the ASEAN Folktales and Storytelling for ASEAN Readiness held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on January 24 – 25, 2015.

The event showcasing the diversity of cultures in ASEAN region was well attended by the university students and various international storytelling organizations. Top storytellers from 15 countries joined the event, which included Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos PDR, Indonesia, Singapore, India, the United States, Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Romania, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.

The storytellers performed excellently with their famous folklores and entertained the audience with their very skillful way of telling the tales.

The main objective of this event is to give the students an ASEAN Economic Community awareness through local folklore of each participating country.
