MSU at QS-MAPLE Conference and Exhibition
On May 6 - 8, 2014, MSU Academic personnel spearheaded by the Acting President Assoc. Prof. Supachai Samappito attended and represented Mahasarakham University in the 4th QS-MAPLE Conference and Exhibition (Middle East and North Africa Professional Leaders in Education) held at Dusit Thani, Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates.
In the event, MSU was able to introduce as one of the "Fastest Growing Universities" in the Northeast of Thailand to more than 300 academics from as many as 40 countries—representing 149 entities that included higher education centers, government organizations and media—to exchange their valuable knowledge, learn from the discussions and presentations, and network in the most relaxed atmosphere.
This year 4th QS-MAPLE was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education of United Arab Emirates—first time in QS-MAPLE history. Director General of ADEC, Dr Amal Al Qubaisi, opened the conference with her welcome speech, followed by a keynote address by Professor M. Badr Aboul-Ela, director for the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA)—on behalf of the Minister of Higher Education of the UAE.
Khalifa University president, Dr Tod Laursen, expressed his organization’s delight to be part of this “exciting event” – as he put it – and said “the conference allowed visitors to experience the tremendous diversity, breadth and depth of ideas and best practices available in higher education at Khalifa University and in the UAE as a whole.”
For the undeniable success of the 4th QS – MAPLE Conference and Exhibition, QS-Asia Quacquarelli Symonds, provided a kind of conference that promotes fast emerging globalization of the Higher Education and stimulates international networking. Furthermore, it supports the processes of the educational institution evaluation and upgrading the quality that will bring much greater worldwide recognition of the universities in the Middle East and Africa. In line with this, the success of this event yielded positive results. One is the proof that MSU can soar higher than it usually provides in bringing quality higher education from within Thailand to other parts of the globe and the apparent fact that the event gave birth to inter-ethnic mutual partnerships that can be a future asset not only for Mahasarakham University but to both interested parties.
