On 19 - 21 April 2013, Assoc. Prof. Patnom Hongsuwan, Director of Institute of Arts and Culture, HUSOC led the MSU Delegation at the "4th International Conference on Lao Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, Wisconsin, USA. In the said conference,

Prof. Dr. Patnom Hongsuwan presented a research on "Long Live the Mekong River: Meaning and Symbols in the Invention of Tradition in the Border Communities of Thailand-Laos. The conference brought together Lao Studies Scholars and Researchers from all disciplines in the Social Sciences and Humanities and all Intellectual and Political Perspective. And there were also paper presentation, panel discussion, exhibits, performances and cultural activities that highlighted the conference.
