Food Technology (Ph.D.)

Faculty of Technology

The Faculty of Technology was officially established on August 7, 1986, when the university was still a regional campus of Srinakharinwirot University. The faculty aims at producing graduates and leaders with expertise in food and nutrition, bio-technology, and agricultural technology, in addition to promoting agro-industry and environmental enhancement projects. Graduates from the faculty are trained to conduct research for the conservation and development of local art, culture, and wisdom.

Overview

 

The Doctor of Philosophy International Program in Food Technology covers a wide range of topics designed to empower students with advanced skills in research and provide an overview of the principles of Food Science leading to discussion of advanced topics and novel technologies relevant to manufacture and distribution of processed foods. The mission of the program is to produce graduates with advanced capabilities, creativity analytical thinking and innovative problem solving in the area of Food Processing, Food Engineering, Food Microbiology and Food Chemistry and prepare them for successful careers within the food industry, academia and government. On-going research areas include Development of drying processes, Biofilm, Probiotics, Cereal Product Development, Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals.

 

Program Type
 

The Doctor of Philosophy Program in Food Technology consists of two types:

 

Type 1: A program with focus on research

 

  1. Students holding a master’s degree are required to conduct a 48-credit thesis.

1.2 Students holding a bachelor’s degree are required to conduct a 72-credit thesis.

 

Type 2: A program with focus on both research and coursework

 

2.1 Students holding a master’s degree are entitled to conduct a 36-credit thesis and take a minimum of 14 credits of coursework.

2.2 Students holding a bachelor’s degree are entitled to conduct a 48-credit thesis and take a minimum of 26 credits of coursework.
