Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, known as HUSOC, is among the older faculties at Mahasarakham University and continues to be one of the most active. The faculty actively and effectively carries out its missions of producing high-quality graduates, providing academic services to local communities, conserving local arts and culture and conducting research for social development.

The faculty includes the departments of Thai & Oriental Languages; Western Languages and Linguistics; Sociology & Anthropology; Geography; and History. The faculty is located in the Rajanakharin Building at the Khamriang Campus.

 


English and Language Arts (Ph.D.)
Course duration: 3-5 years
Estimated Tuition and Fees for Full-Time Student: 60,000 Baht/Semester

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in English and Language Arts prepares teachers, specialists, educators, and researchers for services at the various levels of English/language arts. This program focuses on research findings in the teaching of literature and language, the improvement of instructional methodology, materials and curriculum, and service to schools and children.

 

Program Types

 

The Doctor of Philosophy Program in English and Language Arts consists of two types:

               

Type 1: A program with focus on research

 

Students are required to conduct a research study to create new bodies of knowledge.

 

Admission to the program is of two forms.

 

  1. Student holding a master’s degree are required to conduct a 48-credit thesis.

 

1.2 Student holding a bachelor’s degree are required to conduct a 72-credit thesis.

 

Type 2: A program with focus on both research and coursework

 

Students are required to conduct a research study leading to academic and vocational development. The number of required additional coursework depends on student’s academic background.

 

  1. Students holding a master’s degree are entitled to conduct a 36-credit thesis and take a minimum of 12 credits of coursework.

 

  1. Students holding a bachelor’s degree are entitled to conduct a 48-credit thesis and take a minimum of 24 credits of coursework.
